SUMMARY:Texas Department of Agriculture- Success in Business® Business Talk State Trade Expansion Program (STEP)
DESCRIPTION:                                                                                 Presents\n   The Texas Department of Agriculture State Trade Expansion Program (STEP)\nThe Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has recieved a State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration. TDA will administer the STEP program through partnerships that include the Office of the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Division\, the University of Texas at San Antonio – International Trade Center and the U.S. Department of Commerce. No other federal funds will be matched against this award.\nPurpose: The program’s objectives are to increase the number of small businesses that are exporting\, and to increase the value of exports for those small businesses that are currently exporting. The STEP program will take the necessary steps to create or expand their export capacity and provide financial assistance along the way to help them achieve success.\nTexas’ STEP program will encompass recruitment\, training and planning\, and execution of export trade activities; including trade show involvement and assist with small business export development.\nEligibility:\nTexas-based small businesses that: 1) meet SBA “Small Business Concern” size guidelines; 2) is not debarred from federal funding; and 3) have a product/service manufactured\, produced\, processed or have value-added in Texas\, are eligible to participate in the STEP Program.\nTo incentivize companies to enter new international markets and provide the customized assistance needed\, TDA will provide post-completion reimbursement of up to $5\,000 to eligible businesses for approved export activities which include the following:\n· Customized U.S. Commercial services\, include Discover Global Markets Conferences\, Initial Market Check/Gold Key Matching Services\, and International Partner Search\, etc.· Design of international marketing products or campaigns· Expert financial counseling for companies in need of more sophisticated support· Develop websites to attract foreign buyers· Fees for shipping sample products· Foreign language translations· Foreign market sales trips· Non-state participation in foreign trade missions and trade shows· Services to support foreign market entry· Website translation\, search engine optimization\, localization services\nState Coordinated Export Events\nIn addition to their regular export assistance activities\, Texas Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism (OOG) will coordinate the participation of Texas small businesses in two foreign trade shows. Eligible small businesses will receive free\, turnkey\, shared booth space and on-site assistance from experienced staff at the:\n· INA PAACE Automechanika Mexico City (June 14 – 16\, 2017) is an automotive trade show and the\,ultimate platform for sourcing domestic and international products and suppliers.· The International Paris Air Show (June 19 – 26\, 2017) is an international aviation and aerospaceexhibition in Le Bourget\, France and offers opportunity to showcase technologies of the aerospaceindustry and related equipment.· For more OOG-coordinated trade shows visit texaswideopenforbusiness.com/about/events\nTDA will coordinate the participation of Texas small businesses in two foreign trade activities.  · VIV Asia 2017 (March 15-17\, 2017) showcases every segment of animal protein production and processing industry in Bangkok\, Thailand bringing together supply and demand within the complete animal protein chain.· Sub-Saharan Africa trade mission in May/June 2017 to support exports of consumer-oriented food products will include meeting coordination and business-to-business matching.\n\n\n\n\n\nSUCCESS IN BUSINESS® (SIB) is a series of events aimed at connecting small\, minority\, women and disadvantage business owners (MWDBE) to contract administrators and decision makers in the private\, federal\, state and City departments. The goal is to increase the knowledge of the many contracting opportunities for MWDBE’s and to foster a relaxing and informal forum for relationship and capacity building between MWDBE’s and contracting agencies that attend. In addition\, SIB connects MWDBE’s to the many Professional Resource and Certification entities who through workshops and presentations\, can develop and sharpen their business\, marketing and professional skills.
